a short film of the Filmakademie Baden-Würtemberg
Fiction Short | 20 min | 2:1 | Stereo | Color | 4K DCP | Polish with Subtitles in EN/DE/ES | 2021
Oliwia lives with her husband at the edge of the forest on the Polish-Belarusian border. She feeds refugees at night with prepared tea, water and sandwiches from her garden. Her husband, Kuba, is concerned that this may get Oliwia into trouble. The elderly neighbor, Piotr, repeatedly makes abusive remarks to the refugees because they steal his garden and the food grown in it. Piotr has an eye on his surroundings and becomes suspicious of Oliwia.
In broad daylight, Arash enters Olivia's garden in search of food. He seems visibly hurt and in desperate need of help. Oliwia watches him until he finally collapses in the open. She grants him access to her house and promises to provide help. Events come to a head until Oliwia finally steals Piotr's car to take Arash to the nearest hospital....
I was allowed to accompany this project under the direction of Joshua Neubert and camera by Larius Kieninger as 2nd AC. Short film shoots are always exciting and new projects. You meet like-minded and motivated filmmakers with whom you spend intensive shooting days together. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Priska Kraft for allowing me to be part of this project. Congratulations to the whole team for being awarded at the official selection to the "Landshut Shortfilm festival" and I hope there will be many more occasions to celebrate more upcoming selections.
The film is currently running on diverse film festivals, so due to this time it cannot be displayed to public. Feel free to come back to find the released film soon.
