Children between the ages of 10 and 14, with and without a migration background, talk about their lives. To do this, they meet as "editors" at the filmburg Marktoberdorf to think, write and discuss. The majority of the participants attend the secondary school in Marktoberdorf, other children are course participants in the mobilé theater school.
Through countless online conversations with this group during Lockdown 2021, the idea was born to offer young people a platform for their life stories. They tell about what moves them, occupies them and interests them. These are stories from the family, of friendships, disappointments, experiences and longings, but also of surprises, courage, desires and a sparkling love of life.
They are "lifelines" of the way to a new home, of paths through the familiar old home or of togetherness in the common living landscape around Marktoberdorf. It is the view from a microcosm to the macrocosm. They are episodes, anecdotes, thoughts and stories that children carry within themselves and that often remain hidden to us adults. It is worth writing them down. Not as literary reading, but as the result of spontaneous formulation and joint exchange outside of school. Over tea and cake or lunch, conversations arose in which the children opened up to their thoughts and ideas in a very emotional way. What they then wrote down is authentically reproduced in the book. This gives readers the chance to develop more understanding, attentiveness and awareness in their dealings with adolescents through new, unexpected perspectives. From all the impressions, black on white, comes the realization: it is not diversity that shapes the region, but diversity, and humanitarian diversity needs attention and care. The richly illustrated collection of texts was presented to the public on July 23 at the filmburg (Marktoberdorf).
