My love and passion for photography began very early on. Even though I currently think and work much more in moving images, I also enjoy shooting stills from time to time. While travelling through the USA, I had the idea of combining both worlds and their advantages. The wide format, which is familiar from big Hollywood productions, flatters some scenes so much that they could have been a stolen frame grab from a blockbuster. My format of ‘never shot film scenes’ was born. Since then, I have been trying to use this wide format when travelling and on everyday photo missions. I am almost obsessed with the wide images and their expressiveness. It seems to me that it gives the images a new context and a different meaning.
California has a lot to offer in terms of scenery, of course, but cities like LA and San Francisco don't have to hide behind it either. I haven't yet found out why the quality of light and the look work so much better in photos there than here in Central Europe. It's no wonder that many of the well-known films are shot in this area.
