Documentary | 90 min | 2,35:1 | Dolby 5.1 | Color | Digital | DCP | English w/ English Subtitles
directed by Beat Schwiersch, Lukas Joas & Sebastian Borowski
Five years ago, Michael Fassbender took the first step towards fulfilling his childhood dream of taking part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and crossing the finish line. The YouTube series ‘Road to Le Mans’ followed him every step of the way. Now comes the grand finale with ‘Road to Le Mans: The Film’.
The time had already come in 2022: Hollywood actor Michael Fassbender had finally made it to the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe after three years of hard work in various GT races. But the first setback came in qualifying. Following an accident, the Porsche 911 RSR had to be completely rebuilt before the actual endurance race. Despite this, the Proton Competition team drove the race into the night. Fassbender was then involved in an accident through no fault of his own. The RSR with the number 93 crashed into the tyre pile and came to a halt. And Michael Fassbender? Is disappointed. Takes time out. Takes a break from the race track.
But the German-Irishman can't let go of his childhood dream. He came to his senses, learnt from his previous experiences and started a new attempt. The new goal: Le Mans 2023. What has been captured in the past four seasons of the ‘Road to Le Mans’ series will now be crowned with a final film that follows the events of the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023.
