THE NINES is an event format that has become an integral part of the snowboard and freiski scene for over ten years now. Back then, Nico Zaceck participated as a professional skier himself. Today he is the face of the Nines and invites young aspiring and talented athletes to the unique contest and event format. The unique setup, as well as the recorders of the athletes make it an unforgettable experience.

I can still remember when I myself proudly went to Nebelhorn (Allgäu) with my Sony VX2000 Handycam more than 10 years ago. It was the weekend when the Nines (then still called Nine Knights) were to take place. All my big Freiski idols were there and did jumps and spins all day that I only dreamed of. A good decade later, my dream should now come true. Together with Distillery from Innsbruck I was allowed to go to the Nines at Piz Gloria (CH) as official filmer and editor. An exhausting week lies ahead of us: The whole day is spent shooting footage on the mountain, which then has to be sifted and selected immediately in the media office down in the valley. On average, you get about 4 hours of sleep, but a lot of fun and like-minded people around you.

Rarely have I been able to meet so many great people in one week and learn something new. Even though I was a bit tired from the work and the impressions, I am looking forward to the next Nines in summer and winter.
